An amazing discovery has been made in the Atherton Table lands region (near Cairns) of tropical far North Queensland, a family of shrubs and small trees thats flowers, seeds, leaves, roots, wood and bark contain a compound that kills cancerous tumors in a matter of mere days, with no long term side effects. Plants in the Fontainea family, especially Fontainea picrosperma/Hylandia dockrillii, and Fontainea venosa, more commonly known as the Blushwood tree or shrub, has been shown in animal studies, as well as in initial human studies, to be remarkably effective against solid tumors such as melanoma, head, neck and breast cancers, some of the biggest killers in the world each year. The problem is, these much needed miracle plants are largely endangered in the wild, with only a few small pockets being known of for some, and the only propagation of these amazing plants is currently under the control of the pharmaceutical industry.
The initial discovery was made by Dr Victoria Gordon and Dr Paul Reddell of EcoBiotics in 2006, who observed that marsupials find the seed of Fontainea picrosperma/Hylandia dockrillii unpalatable due to an inflammatory chemical present in reasonably high concentrations. Gordon and Reddell sent off a batch of crushed kernels to a commercial lab in Sydney to investigate any possibly useful compounds, finding powerful anti cancer properties in a compound named EBC-46 and powerful wound healing properties in a compound named WH-1. Scientists at the QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute in Brisbane, led by Dr Glen Boyle tested the compound EBC-46, on a tumour cell line and were astonished by its effectiveness. When applied to a laboratory mouse implanted with human skin cancer, the melanoma turned red and purple, then melted before their eyes.
Since then, the drug has been tried experimentally on various animals that were diagnosed by veterinarians and given a poor prognosis, most being considered candidates for euthanasia prior to participating in the study. Dogs, cats, horses, pigs, sheep, ferrets, guinea pigs, goanna, birds, even the endangered Tasmanian devil were tested, amazingly these animals that had been on death’s door prior to the study had their melanoma tumors disappear after treatment in the lab by Dr. Boyle and his team of scientists at QIMR, obliterating tumors in nearly all of them. Dr Boyle stated that “In most cases the single injection treatment caused the loss of viability of cancer cells within four hours, and ultimately destroyed the tumors.”
Herein lies the beauty of the compound, or at least in how it has been seen to work in animals and the early human clinical trials, in most cases, a set of five or six injections does the trick, but a follow up course can be required. Dr. Boyle says EBC-46 works in part by triggering a cellular response which effectively cuts off the blood supply to the tumor. “In more than 70 per cent of pre clinical cases, the response and cure was long term and enduring, with very little relapse over a period of 12 months.”
Evidently, the Blushwood shrubs amazing healing properties do not stop there, it also kicks up the bodies natural healing response, healing the wound with soft, new skin and reduced scarring.“Some of the wound healing we’ve witnessed so far in pilot studies with pet dogs has been remarkable. These animals had chronic non-healing wounds that weren’t responding to current standard of care treatments before being treated with our new compound,” said Dr Gordon. “Based on these extremely encouraging results we are now moving to more fully evaluate the prospect of developing this drug as a treatment for both chronic and acute wounds. Wound healing is a large market ($14 billion annually in the USA alone) where there is significant demand for new and effective products for application in both human and veterinary medicine,” said Dr Gordon.
Of the 344 animals treated to date about two thirds of them dogs 78 per cent ended up cancer free or with tumor mass reduced by more than half. Fewer than nine per cent failed to respond. Bone cancers and highly fibrous tumors have so far proven to be resistant, possibly because not enough EBC-46 can penetrate into the cancer. EcoBiotics is also progressing with its plans in international veterinary cancer markets, following approval from the US Centre for Veterinary Medicine for further studies on the treatment of canine mast cell tumours with EBC-46. This approved study will involve 10 investigative sites and 120 cases for the treatment of canine tumours, and would be the final clinical step to use of the product in the US for canine mast cell tumors. Dr Gordon said once the study was completed, the company would seek regulatory approval from the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority to make the drug commercially available to the domestic vet market.
Multi-centre human Clinical Phase I/II trial, which started in 2015, are showing encouraging results. According to Dr Gordon, the study has now treated eight human patients. “This study is primarily being undertaken to examine the safety of EBC-46,” Dr Gordon said. “The drug has been well tolerated by all patients treated. In addition, sound evidence of efficacy has also been noted in tumors of all the patients treated. This is shown by the appearance of bruising and initial tumor breakdown on the section of the tumor treated. This response in humans is very similar to what has been seen in the successful veterinary studies with EBC-46 where full tumor destruction is noted.” Tumor types in the human trial treated to date are melanoma, squamous cell carcinoma, basal cell carcinoma and breast adenocarcinoma.
Denise Powell, one of the cancer sufferers who has joined the trial in Queensland, had a tumor in her armpit that was getting progressively worse, “My cancer surgeon said, ‘I can take that one out, if you get any more you might lose an arm.” Doctors injected the trial drug EBC-46 directly into Denises tumor, “In less than 20 minutes the tumor had gone purple then black,” Denise said. “Then within a couple of days the tumor just kind of shrivelled up and died”. Dr Gordon said none of the patients, who were treated at hospitals in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide, showed any negative side effects from the drug. “These initial results, that are clearly showing potential for a good safety profile for the drug combined with early signs of efficacy in a range of tumor types, are very encouraging,” said Dr Gordon. “The exciting thing is the drugs are responding in exactly the same way in tumors in cats, dogs and horses. It’s proving our theory that it’s not species specific, and it’s not tumor specific either, because it’s actually working in a range of tumors.” She expected the drug, once it had been trialled on at least 11 more human patients, would become commercially available within the next four years. Encouraging to say the least.
What is not encouraging however is the threatened status of these endangered plants and the way that this discovery has been reported so far in the mainstream media. Whilst this amazing discovery has garnered a small amount of press coverage, in every article in the mainstream media I could find, the only plant mentioned to be containing EBC-46 and WH-1 is Hylandia dockrillii, the Blushwood shrub. None of them mention that Hylandia dockrilli is synonymous with Fontainea picrosperma or that the initial study identified Fontainea pancheri, Fontainea australis, Fontainea borealis, Fontainea fugax, Fontainea oraria, Fontainea rostrata, Fontainea subpapuana and Fontainea venosa as containing EBC-46 and WH-1. With Fontainea picrosperma, or Hylandia dockrillii and Fontainea venosa found to be the most useful. Also they do not mention that numerous other compounds discovered in the fontainea genus also show remarkable promise in regards to killing cancer as well as treating other ailments. Now, this may have been simple over site, the writers editing down to fit word counts or perhaps an attempt keep the compounds EBC-46, WH-1 and the Blushwood shrubs relatively obscure from the public, therefore protecting the discovery for the‘big pharma’ industry. Whilst EcoBiotics and it’s subsidiary QBiotics (which is developing these compounds), are not ‘big pharma’ in themselves, being a small Queensland company, they will have to find a lot of funding if they are ever to get these compounds to market, which means selling the rights to the compound to the big boys.
If EBC-46 gets through to Clinical Phase III, the critical proving trial that generally involves thousands of patients around the world (which it appears so far that it will, with flying colours), it will have burned through all of the cash EcoBiotics have raised, and more. The majority of their 1200 shareholders are mums and dads who have kicked in as little as $1500; the biggest single outside stake in the unlisted company is $1 million. This is more by accident than design. Dr Gordon initially did the rounds of venture finance providers but was rebuffed; prove it up and come back to us, the money men told her.
The expense of getting a drug to market is staggering, which helps explain why so few get through in Australia. Picato, a rare success story, had $130 million ploughed into it by Danish outfit LEO Pharma before being registered by the Therapeutic Goods Administration last year. In a small pond, Australia’s CSL is the nearest thing there is to a big local fish. Yet to meet the development cost it had to license the international rights of Gardasil – the controversial cervical cancer vaccine pioneered by 2006 Australian of the Year Ian Frazer – to US giant Merck. Dr Gordon estimates that EBC-46 will require north of $600 million to be made into a medicine – completely out of their league. She and Reddell have structured the company so that the subsidiary, QBiotics, contains the intellectual property and could be peeled off for outright sale or a stock market float. Which is most likely what will end up happening seeing the extraordinary promise of the Blushwood extracts EBC-46 and WH-1.
The rights to these compounds ECB-46 and WH-1 may be owned by Ecobiotics through their subsidiary QBiotics, but they do not own the plants they are derived from. They certainly do deserve credit and to do extremely well out of their discovery and hard work. I in no way wish to disparage the truly fantastic work Dr Victoria Gordon and Dr Paul Reddell of EcoBiotics have done and genuinely do hope that they get these compounds to the market, as they are sorely needed no matter how it happens. What I do not want to see however is only ‘big pharma’ growing these plants and controlling access to them. This is where I hope the intrepid readers of New Dawn magazine and Tricho Serious Ethnobotany can help out.
I would like to call upon the New Dawn and Tricho Serious Ethnobotany readers in the areas where these plants grow, to actively hunt down these plants in habitat and procure seed and or cuttings, so that these amazing life saving plants themselves can be saved, for all of us. The nine currently known species of Fontainea grow naturally in Queensland and New South Wales (6 sp), New Caledonia and Vanuatu (1 sp), and Papua New Guinea (2 sp). Some species are commonly named Blushwood, but not all and fruit from spring through to autumn. One species, Fontainea oraria, the coast Fontainea, is known only from 10 living plants growing on private property near Lennox Head in northern New South Wales. Its status is critically endangered. Locating the two most promising species Fontainea picrosperma/Hylandia dockrillii and Fontainea venosa should be relatively easy with Fontainea picrosperma/hylandia dockrillii being located in and around the Atherton Tablands near Cairns and Fontainea venosa being located in South East Queensland around the Gympie area. Exact habitat locations for Fontainea picrosperma/hylandia dockrillii can be found in the resources section following this article.
It should be noted that experimentation with any parts of these plants is potentially dangerous, although the researchers are adamant that the drug has potential to be used internally as well as the current external treatments, the necessary work is yet to be done. “The sting in the tail is that it has to be put on the outside of the body,” explains QIMR Berghofer director and CEO Frank Gannon. “It is highly toxic if it gets into the body unless it can be controlled”. Also there has been absolutely no study on what a raw plant extract would do, if anything at all and may be very dangerous if ingested considering the inflammatory response it triggers, which first led to its discovery.
In conclusion, these endangered miracle plants need us to protect them, spread them around and study them. We simply must not allow the only access to these plants to be through a big pharmaceutical company that cares only for profit, not people. The fact that these endangered plants have proven to be so effective and relatively safe, worries me greatly. We run the risk of having this amazing discovery being simply bought and shelved, as cures are not as profitable as “treatments”, such as the ineffective but lucrative chemotherapy “treatments” that slowly milk your wallet before killing you. We have pushed these plants to the brink of extinction through habitat encroachment, whilst the disease they cure is ravaging our population worldwide, maybe we don’t deserve such miracle plants such as the Blushwood shrubs, considering our treatment of the Earth and her bounty, but it is not too late to put people before profit.

Curing Cancer by Nutrition, Mineral Cell Salts, Detox and Energy: Alternative Treatment Options to Chemotherapy
This article goes into comprehensive detail and explanation as to the current and even ancient understandings of what “cancer” really is on 3 different levels, from a cellular level, a molecular level and an atomic/energetic level, as well as the importance of belief and mindset when curing on the sub-atomic metaphysical, energetic level. The information in this article is based on 6 years of intensive research into alternative cancer cures. The idea is not to persuade you either way, but to let you know of the alternative options for cancer treatment that are and have always been available, despite media blackout or lack of coverage.
It is entirely up to you if you choose to go the route of mainstream medical treatment via chemotherapy and other drastic treatments such as radiation, which are extremely dangerous to the other healthy non-cancerous cells in the body. This would most likely be your doctor’s recommendation, but there are several good reasons why millions of people are refusing chemotherapy and radiation and going the route of natural cancer healing instead.
It should be noted that there are dozens of known cures to cancer and the purpose of this article is to make the reader aware of these cures, aware of the controversy over some of the cures and other “claims” of cures which are yet unproven, so that you may start researching and making changes in your daily habits to find out which will work for you. It is your body and your disease to deal with and you deserve to be educated on all possible treatments and possibilities, not just the ones pushed by doctors and mainstream big pharma propaganda.
Belief also plays a huge role on the energetic-metaphysical level, so it is important that you find a combination of cures that you feel comfortable with and believe in. You need to know what is available to make an educated decision for yourself as to which treatments will be best for you, should you decide a natural treatment path over chemotherapy. If it is your belief that you should go with a physician prescribed treatment of chemotherapy and or radiation, then at least you have all of the options and knowledge to weigh out and can feel confident about whatever decision you make, as your beliefs will always be your own and one of your best assets and strengths in fighting disease.
At the very least, proper alkaline diet, breathing techniques, vitamins and mineral cell salts should be supplemented to your regular doctor prescribed cancer treatment. Barring food allergies, there are NO negative side effects to eating healthy food, juicing organic fruits and vegetables, breathing correctly and ingesting the mineral cell salt building blocks of healthy cells. There are NO adverse side effects to cutting out highly acidic foods and beverages that cause cellular breakdown and fermentation. These changes will also help combat the damage done by chemotherapy and radiation to non-cancerous healthy cells, which cannot specifically single out and target cancerous cells while leaving other healthy cells alone.

What is cancer on a cellular level?
According to both traditional Chinese medicine and more enlightened studies in the West, cancer occurs when a mass of cells in various tissues become so toxic and starved of organic nourishment that they can no longer “breathe” properly, i.e. they can no longer eliminate toxic wastes and absorb nutrients. Hence they literally “ferment”in their own toxic wastes, causing the cells to mutate and become cancerous “tumours”.
This condition can be caused by a number of factors. The primary cause is a chronic poor diet, one heavy in cooked meats, overcooked eggs, too much sweet and or processed foods loaded with refined starches and sugars and a lack of raw, uncooked foods which provide enzymes, mineral cells salts and organic nutrients.
Another major contributor to toxic cells is insufficient circulation of essence and energy (chi, orgone, prana) due to lack of exercise and shallow breathing. Chronic stress and depression also play a major role by poisoning the bloodstream with toxic by-products of adrenaline and other “fight or flight” reactions.
Detoxification first and foremost
First and foremost therapy is detoxification with a series of 7-10 day fasts or cleanses with daily colonic irrigations or salt water flushes to irrigate the colon. Thereafter a diet of raw fruit and vegetable juices is indicated. Breathing exercises are extremely beneficial to cancer patients, in conjunction with detoxification and proper organic nutrition, because they circulate the nutrients to the cells and suffuse all tissues with abundant supplies of enzymes, essence and energy (chi, or gone, prana). We will come back to breathing and detoxification methods later in this article.
So long as the body has toxins stored in it’s cells and colon, the enzymes taken in new food will always go towards removing the toxins already in the colon and other storage areas in the body. If your colon is storing toxicity and waste, enzymes that might naturally go towards the cancerous cells may instead go to the normal toxic areas of the colon and the cancer cells won’t get the energy and nutrition they need to heal.
This author personally recommends the “Master Cleanse” by Stanley Burroughs mixed with daily salt water flushes to clean the colon of mucus and toxin. While the master cleanse is in essence a two week lemon juice detox, lemons digest as Alkaline PH balance and the citric acid and cayenne pepper eat away and destroy all of the mucus in the body and colon. The TAO nutritional cure
After the body has been detoxed with a cleanse or detoxification program, here are what the ancient Chinese Taoists have been using for thousands of years to cure cancer. It should be noted that cancer behaves as a pleomorphic fungus and cannot survive in a body that has an alkaline PH balance. It needs an acidic PH balance in order to continue to putrefy and grow. More on PH balance later in this article. The one thing all of these alternative cancer cures have in common is that they load the body with foods, mineral cell salts, spices, herbs and other agents which are extremely alkaline in PH balance when digested by the body.
Foods to avoid
No matter which cancer treatment you decide to go with, it is vital that you cut out the acidic foods from your diet immediately and only starting eating foods and raw juices that are digested with an Alkaline PH balance. These highly acidic PH balanced foods are the contributing factors to the growth and spread of the cancer.
You should avoid all animal products, especially animal proteins and fats, i.e. no cooked meats, no foods high in fat, eggs, milk, cheese, dairy, etc. You should cut out all refined sugars and starches, carbohydrates like bread, pasta, rice and pastries. Cut out acidic oils and vegetable oils such as corn oil. Fish oils are the exception, more on this later. Alcohol is high in sugar content and extremely acidic and should be avoided at all costs. Coffee and dark non-herbal tea should be avoided, most especially with milk, cream or sugar added in. Drink only lighter herbal teas, ginseng, etc. Stay away from heavily salted foods and cured products.
Eat ONLY fresh, raw organic fruit, vegetables, legumes, juices, extracts, herbs and spices.
Beneficial foods and juices
Carrot Juice: This is perhaps the best vegetable juice for detoxifying tissues. It also helps alkalise the bloodstream, which in cases of cancer and toxemia is always highly acidic. Raw carrot juice delivers abundant supplies of readily assimilable vitamins, minerals and enzymes to diseased cells, giving them the fuel they require to sluff off wastes and rebuild cells. Jay Kordish, the then 75 year old who promoted raw juice diets in America, was cured of bladder cancer at age 25 with a blend of raw carrot and apple juice, taken a glass at a time every hour, 13 times a day under the supervision of the great raw juice therapist Dr. Max Gersen.
Drink at least 1.5 quarts freshly extracted raw carrot juice daily, in conjunction with breathing and other exercises, for as long as therapy is required. It is important that you squeeze or juice fresh, organic carrots daily. NEVER use store bought juices. Store bought juices are pasteurised under extreme heat which ruins all of the enzymes, minerals, vitamins and essence from the vegetables and fruits.

Grapes: Raw grapes, especially the DARK variety, are renowned as excellent cancer therapy when taken as an exclusive diet for prolonged periods. Entire sanatoriums in Russia are devoted to this cure. Grapes detoxify all tissues and organs and restore organic integrity to starved cells. In 1925, South African Johanna Brandt cured herself of cancer with an exclusive grape diet and wrote a book about it called “The Grape Cure”. In this book she recommends eating 2-4 pounds (1-2 kilograms) of dark grapes every day, for 1 week to a month or more. Cabbage Juice: Fresh, raw cabbage juice has been proven to cure severe ulcers in the stomach, duodenum, and intestines. As such, it is also an effective therapy for cancers of the stomach and intestinal track. High concentrations of organic chlorine and sulphur in raw cabbage cleanse the mucus membranes of the stomach and intestinal tract, where cancerous tissues often form. It is generally recommended to take cabbage juice in combination with raw carrot juice, due to it’s strength.
4 ounces cabbage juice mixed with 8 ounces carrot juice, three times daily. Remember, freshly juiced, not store bought.
Raw Beet Juice: Beet juice is highly beneficial as a liver detoxifier and blood cleanser. In cases of cancer, therefor, it purifies the bloodstream so that the blood can do it’s work of detoxifying the body and delivering nutrients to starved cancer cells. By detoxifying the liver, it promotes clean blood, which is filtered by the liver. Also indicated in cases of liver cancer.
8 ounces of pure beet juice, twice daily. Another option is 6 ounces of beet juice mixed with 6 ounces of carrot juice, 3 times daily. Tablets and dry crystals of pure beet juice extract are also very good.
Alkaline vs Acidic PH Foods
There are hundreds of foods, herbs and spices that are known for their cancer curing and preventing properties, such as garlic, turmeric, cabbage, soya beans*, onions, carrots, tomatoes, all green and yellow vegetables, citrus fruits, fatty fish, herbal tea, seafood, cruciferous vegetables and dark leafy legumes, cabbage, broccoli, collard greens, etc.
What these all really have in common is that they are loaded with one or more of the 12 organic mineral cells salts and they are all highly Alkaline in their PH balance when digested by the body, not Acidic. Even though citrus fruits have citric acid, they are still digested as Alkaline PH in the body.
As stated before, cancer cells are considered as Pleomorphic Fungi and cannot survive in an environment which is highly Alkaline in PH, receiving clean blood, nutrients and oxygen. It is important whether fighting or preventing cancer that you immediately cut out the foods and beverages in your diet which are more Acidic in PH balance than Alkaline. You want to cut out foods from your diet that are checked with red, dark yellow or yellow on the chart in the link above. These foods are highly acidic in PH balance. Cancer cannot survive in a well oxygenated environment with an Alkaline PH balance. Start eating and juicing raw foods that have checks in the light green, green and dark green on the above chart. The darker the green, the more Alkaline PH and the more cancer fighting properties the food has.
Mineral Cell Salts
All of the body’s cells are made up of combinations of the 12 basic mineral cell salts and are activated in fusion by the mineral salt Iron Phosphate, also known as Ferrum Phos. In the presence of an Acidic PH level, stress, toxins, lack of proper oxygen supply and other conditions the fluids of the body and blood become depleted in Iron (Iron Phosphate, Ferrum Phos) and three forms of Potassium known as Kali Sulph (Sulphate of Potassium), Kali Phos (Potassium Phosphate) and Kali Mur (Chloride of Potassium). In cases of stomach cancer, Natrium Phosphate (sodium Phosphate) will also be lacking.
When this happens, the corpuscles of the body slowly suffocate and “putrefy”. THIS IS THE TRUE CAUSE OF CANCER on a biochemical level. Without Iron, cellular combustion can not go on in the body. A mix of the correct mineral cell salts and Iron are the legitimate cure for this putrid and virulent disease.
Normally these mineral cell salts and Iron are abundant in raw, uncooked fruits, vegetables, legumes, herbs and certain spices. Most modern diets are lacking in these things or the modern body is too Acidic in PH and lacking proper nutrients and oxygen to perform cellular combustion, hence putrefaction of the cells.
Table salt (sodium) is not a healthy salt and should be avoided. These are mineral cell salts which make up the parts of the body’s cellular tissues, table salt is not one of the recommended cancer fighting salts and the grains are too course to be assimilated into the cells unless specially prepared and crushed in micro homeopathic quantities.
It cannot be overstated that it is essential when fighting cancer to supplement your diet with the following mineral cell salts to replenish the putrefied cells and get corpuscle combustion started. The American National Cancer Institute says that 1/3rd of all cancers are linked to diet. British expert Richard Doll put the figure as high as 60%. It can’t be argued. But they are safe because the cyanide remains bound and locked as part of another molecule.
There is an enzyme in normal cells to catch some free cyanide molecules and render them harmless by combining them with sulfur. That enzyme is rhodanese. By binding the cyanide to sulfuric rhodanese, it is converted to a cyanate, which is a neutral substance. Then it is easily passed through the urine with no harm to the normal cells.
Cancer cells thrive on fermenting sugar instead of metabolizing with oxygen. Amygdalin contains two glucose molecules. So the amygdalin molecules are quite appealing to sugar hungry cancer cells. And cancer cells contain an enzyme that normal cells do not share, beta-glucosidase.
This enzyme is considered the unlocking enzyme for amygdalin molecules. It releases both the benzaldehyde and the cyanide, creating a toxic synergy that destroys cancer cells. The “Baking soda cure”: Sodium Bicarbonate
There is a huge debate going on whether or not cancer cells are a result of the body defending itself from the fungus given by Candida, a yeast-like organism living in the body in small amounts. Saliva is produced in and secreted from salivary glands. The basic secretory units of salivary glands are clusters of cells called an acini. These cells secrete a fluid that contains water, electrolytes, mucus and enzymes, all of which flow out of the acinus into collecting ducts.
Within the ducts, the composition of the secretion is altered. Much of the sodium is actively reabsorbed, potassium is secreted, and large quantities of bicarbonate ion are secreted. Bicarbonate secretion is of tremendous importance to ruminants because it, along with phosphate, provides a critical buffer that neutralizes the massive quantities of acid produced in the forestomachs. Small collecting ducts within salivary glands lead into larger ducts, eventually forming a single large duct that empties into the oral cavity.
Most animals have three major pairs of salivary glands that differ in the type of secretion they produce:
parotid glands – produce a serous, watery secretion.
submaxillary (mandibular) glands – produce a mixed serous and mucous secretion.
sublingual glands – secrete a saliva that is predominantly mucous in character.
The basis for different glands secreting saliva of differing composition can be seen by examining salivary glands histologically. Two basic types of acinar epithelial cells exist:
serous cells, which secrete a watery fluid, essentially devoid of mucus.
mucous cells, which produce a very mucus-rich secretion.
Bicarbonate ions in saliva act as buffers, maintaining a pH between 6.5 and 7.5.
Sodium Bicarbonate is made in the stomach. For every molecule of sodium bicarbonate produced in the stomach, an equal amount of HCL is produced. HCL acid is a waste product of sodium bicarbonate production. The formula is NaCL + H2O + CO2 = NaHCO3 + HCL. The sodium bicarbonate in the stomach creates even more alkalization of the food in the stomach and prepares it to be transformed into stem cells in the small intestine. The HCL acid falls into the gastric pits away from the food. The normal pH of the stomach with food is 7.2 or higher. Yes, you can drink alkaline water with your meals to buffer or neutralize the poisonous HCL.
Pancreas – Pancreatic Juice
Pancreatic juice contains sodium bicarbonate which neutralizes the acidic material from the stomach.
Brunner’s glands (or duodenal glands) are compound tubular submucosal glands found in that portion of the duodenum which is above the hepatopancreatic sphincter (Sphincter of Oddi). The main function of these glands is to produce a mucus-rich alkaline secretion (containing bicarbonate) in order to:
protect the duodenum from the acidic content of chyme (which is introduced into the duodenum from the stomach);
provide an alkaline condition for the intestinal enzymes to be active, thus enabling absorption to take place;
lubricate the intestinal walls.
They also secrete urogastrone, which inhibits parietal and chief cells of the stomach from secreting acid and their digestive enzymes. This is another form of protection for the duodenum.
They are the distinguishing feature of the duodenum, and are named for the Swiss physician who first described them, Johann Conrad Brunner.
Liver – Bile
Bile has a golden colour and is nearly isotonic with blood plasma. The bile contains NaCl and bicarbonate in concentrations similar to those of plasma, but the bile contains more Ca2+ (bound to bile acids) than plasma. We normally produce 0.5-1 litre of hepatic bile per day with bile salts, lecithin, cholesterol and 1.5 g of bile pigments.
The liver secretes bile, which is stored in the gall bladder between meals. During digestion, bile is excreted along the bile duct (from the gall bladder) and the hepatic duct (from the liver) into the duodenum (the first part of the small intestine).
Bile is an aqueous mixture containing several substances, including bicarbonate ions to neutralize the acidic chyme arriving from the stomach, and bile salts to emulsify fats in the first stage of their breakdown.
Kidneys Produce Bicarbonate
The kidneys alone produce about two hundred and fifty grams (about half a pound) of bicarbonate per day in an attempt to neutralize acid in the body.
Bicarbonate ions neutralize the acid conditions required for chronic inflammatory reactions. Hence, sodium bicarbonate is of benefit in the treatment of a range of chronic inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. Sodium bicarbonate is a well studied and used medicine with known effects.

How To Make Turmeric Juice: A Powerful Healing Beverage.
Turmeric is known to be one of the most powerful healing herbs. It is great for bones and joints as it has anti-inflammatory properties. It prevents metastases from occurring in many different forms of cancer.
Turmeric’s also a natural liver detoxifier and a kidney cleanser, and it speeds metabolism and aids in weight management. Plus it heals and alleviates conditions of depression, psoriasis, damaged skin, arthritis and more.
For these reasons, turmeric is ubiquitous both in Ayurveda and Chinese Medicine.
Here’s what you’ll need to get started:
5-7 inches turmeric
mason jar(s) or other glass jar with lid
1. Peel turmeric. Your fingers will turn yellow. Don’t worry! All-natural dish soap gets it right out. If your cutting board or countertop get stained, slather on dish soap and rub it in. Let it soak in for 5 min or longer, then scrub with water and sponge. The turmeric stain will vanish!
- Crack and open tamarind. Make sure you get all the inner roots off, too. We’re only going to use the inner fruit.
Fill a big pot with water, put peeled tumeric in and let it boil for at least 20 minutes until the water becomes a rich and vibrant marigold color.
While the tumeric water is boiling, get a pan and pour 1 inch of water in with the peeled tamarind. Move the fruit around with a wooden utensil, mix it in with the water so it can melt and dissolve into a jam like texture. More water shouldn’t be needed, but if it’s lookin’ a bit dry, pour water in as needed.
By this time, you should be able to see the little seeds coming out. When the texture looks soft, turn heat off and let it cool down.
- Go back to the tumeric water. By now, the color should look ready. Pour a little bit of cold water to lower the temperature. Take the turmeric water and pour it into the blender with the tumeric. We boiled it so the root could soften and have more flavor, now it’s ready to buzz in the blender for even more flavor and richness! Blend, blend, blend. The color now should look like an extra extra fiery marigold.
Go back to the tamarind in the pan. Pour substance into the strainer that is placed on top of a small bowl to catch the tamarind. Swish the jam like substance around in the strainer with the wooden utensil– we only want to use the soft bits of the fruit. No seeds, no seed peels.
Pour the tamarind that has been caught in the bowl into the blender with the tumeric water. Buzz it around again.
We’re almost done. Squeeze your lemons into the blender. Now take the blender and pour your yummy juice into your mason jar(s). Add honey to taste, close with lid, shake it up to mix.
Store in fridge up to 3-4 days and drink daily!

Consumer Alert: Most Common Vitamins Contain GMOs

A Natural News investigation reveals that an alarmingly large number of multivitamins and individual nutrient vitamins are formulated with ingredients derived from genetically modified corn.
List of ingredients that are usually GMO
The Non-GMO Project Verified website lists these ingredients as commonly harboring GMOs:
Flavorings (“natural” and “artificial”)
High Fructose Corn Syrup
Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein
Textured Vegetable Protein (TVP)
Yeast Products (such as yeast extract)
From this list, you can hopefully realize that:
• Nearly all “vegetarian” foods are GMO (loaded with yeast extract and soy).
• Nearly all sodas and soft drinks are GMO (HFCS, aspartame).
• Nearly all storable “emergency” food sold on the market today is GMO. (TVP, soy, MSG, yeast extract)
• Nearly all canned soups are GMO. (MSG, yeast extract)
• Nearly all children’s meals and snacks are GMO. (HFCS, MSG, soy, corn)
In other words, just about everything the consuming masses are eating is contaminated with GMOs.
Here’s a closer look at some of the more common GMO ingredients in vitamins and health products:
GMO ingredient #1 – Maltodextrin
Maltodextrin is a powdery, starch derivative of corn. It is used everywhere in the nutritional supplements industry, as a “filler” for fruit powders and drink mixes, as a “sweetener” for low-sugar health foods, and as a flow agent for vitamin capsules.
Unless it is certified as non-GMO, all maltodextrin should be assumed to come from GMO sources. The maltodextrin manufacturing supply chain isn’t even geared up to provide non-GMO maltodextrin, as the large-scale factories that produce the material run so much GM corn that there would be significant cross-contamination even if they tried to pull off a non-GMO run.
The few companies that offer non-GMO starches and sweeteners are increasingly gaining attention across the industry. I’m aware of one company called Austrade, Inc. that offers a full line of non-GMO corn-based starches and sweeteners, including non-GMO maltodextrin.
According to the company, they were the first producer to receive “Non-GMO Project Verified” approval for non-GMO maltodextrin.
Non-GMO maltodextrin is also making its way into health products such as “Ultima Replenisher,” a healthy replacement for those junk sports drinks made with GMO corn syrup, salt and low-grade minerals. Ultima Replenisher is completely GMO-free, relying on a non-GMO maltodextrin from certified sources.
A small company named Allergaroo.com also makes non-GMO microwaveable foods that are designed to be free of common allergens such as casein, soy, wheat, peanuts, dairy, GMOs, etc. (Although I have to wonder about the whole microwave concept…)
GMO ingredient #2 – Ascorbic acid
In the delusional world of western thinking on nutrients, ascorbic acid is called “vitamin C.”
It isn’t vitamin C, of course. Real vitamin C is a broad spectrum of synergistic compounds, never just an isolated, homogeneous molecule. But don’t tell that to doctors, scientists or journalists, because they’ve all bought into the “ascorbic acid is vitamin C” delusion.
So nearly all the common “vitamin C” pills are nothing more than heavily refined ascorbic acid derived from GM corn. That’s why those pills don’t work, by the way. So when the mainstream media declares, “Vitamin C shows no benefit…” in clinical trials, what they are really saying is that heavily processed ascorbic acid isolated from genetically modified corn doesn’t improve your health, and that’s no surprise.
Look on the labels of your cheap, low-grade vitamins and multivitamins… you’ll see “ascorbic acid” listed there, meaning you are eating GMOs. Throw those away. They’re crap.

There are also some vitamin companies making non-GMO vitamin C formulations. Expect them to be expensive because all non-GMO vitamin C must be sourced outside the United States. There is currently no U.S.-based producer of non-GMO vitamin C. (It simply doesn’t exist.)
GMO ingredient #3 – Sucrose (heavily used in children’s vitamins)
Take a look at almost any children’s vitamins and you’ll find they’re made with several GMO ingredients: aspartame, sucrose and often citric acid, too.
In fact, children’s vitamins are by far the most toxic because they’re usually formulated with a much higher concentration of toxic ingredients such as artificial sweeteners, artificial colors and GMO-derived materials.
Children should be eating superfoods or food concentrates, not toxic vitamin pills. Remember, too, that the low-grade vitamin pills are manufactured by companies largely owned by the pharmaceutical industry. They have every incentive to make sure their vitamins actually cause health problems rather than prevent disease. Join the call for GMO labeling on vitamins and supplements
As companies like MegaFood blaze forward in achieving non-GMO certification, they are going to force everyone else in the industry to follow suit (or lose customers). That’s because consumers don’t want hidden GMOs in their health supplements, obviously.
People take vitamins based on the belief that vitamins won’t poison them. Unfortunately, this is a false assumption given the dirty tricks played by the pharmaceutical industry in churning out harmful, synthetic vitamins loaded with toxic substances such as GMOs.
